Dear Friends,

Welcome to the College of Social Sciences at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. The College is committed to providing students with an excellent educational experience and faculty with an exciting academic setting. Please visit the departments and programs to learn about our undergraduate and graduate programs and our outstanding faculty. You'll discover the integral role we play in providing a liberal arts education and in contributing to the rich body of social science knowledge. Enjoy exploring the many opportunities for important scholarship through teaching, research, and application.

Teaching is one of the most important ways to engage students in understanding information, enhancing their spirit of inquiry, and encouraging their continual pursuit of truth. Students are encouraged to be active participants in a multidisciplinary educational setting.

Research not only adds to the reservoir of social science knowledge but also enhances the intellectual climate of our campus. Students benefit from interaction with our renowned scholars who conduct both cutting edge basic research and innovative applied research.

Application of social sciences research and teaching is a component of the College's mission. Students are afforded opportunities to stretch their minds beyond the boundaries of the classroom and the community is provided opportunities to engage in important civic issues.

If you wish to learn more about the College of Social Sciences, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would be pleased to tell you about the exciting happenings in the College.

With warmest regards.

Aloha,

Richard Dubanoski, Dean
