2019-20 College Ambassador

The Office of Student Engagement is establishing new traditions in the College that signify major milestones in the experience of our students. This academic year, we developed the College Ambassador program staffed by five (5) culturally diverse student leaders. Ambassadors are nominated, interviewed, and trained during the summer and serve for the entire academic year. The Ambassador program will provide, high-achieving students with a drive to succeed and hands on educational experiences to prepare them to be leaders in the changing global world.

Ambassadors serve the college in many ways including:

  • Participation in the College fair, assisted with High School recruitment fairs and represented the college at the Mānoa Experience
  • Creation of a Talk Story series, speakers include: Senator Brian Schatz, Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa and Kamuela Enos (to be rescheduled)
  • Attended the Legislators in Residence breakfast
  • Hosted International guest from Shizuoka Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit and Expo and the Tohoku campus Exchange program visits
  • The Ambassadors created a new Registered Independent Organization (RIO) on campus called Social Leaders at Manoa (S.L.A.M.)
  • Hosted the first annual SLAM Kickball Tournament open to anyone in the UHM community
  • Creation of a Club Mixer to exchange information between CSS clubs for future collaboration
